Complete a reflective CPD questionnaire and showcase your great CPD
We really want you to tell us about the great CPD you've been doing, so our approach in reviewing your CPD is simple. Our reflective CPD questions will enable you to highlight how you've kept your skills and knowledge up to date. We don't have differing requirements for different membership grades or levels of experience. We want you to showcase how proactive you have been in managing your learning and the impact it has had on you and your organisation.

Each year, we select a random sample of members and ask them to provide evidence of their CPD from the past 12 months.
If you’re selected, we'll ask you to answer a set of CPD reflective questions. You’ll need to submit your answers within 30 days of our request.
For more information about completing your CPD reflective questions, see our guidance notes below.

As a CIPD member, you are required to demonstrate your commitment to CPD and may be asked to submit evidence of this at any time. Our CIPD Code of Professional Conduct reinforces this, stating that ‘maintaining professional knowledge and competence through continuing professional development, to ensure you provide a professional, up-to-date and insightful service’ is a fundamental requirement of membership.
We want to support you with your professional development. Completing the CPD reflective questions demonstrates that you’ve maintained and developed your CPD, which enables you to identify and plan future learning.
We’d encourage you to keep an ongoing record of your CPD.
Here one member shares her experience of completing the CPD reflective questions:
'As a CIPD member, I read with interest that CIPD were updating how they supported CPD with a revised CPD review process, so I decided to take part in the pilot. I was hoping that the CIPD would provide me with a considered yet easy-to-follow approach for CPD.
The CPD questions were clear yet thought provoking. They enabled me to reflect on the last 12 months and chart my journey as well as look ahead to the next 12 months. It was also reassuring that the CIPD had committed to provide feedback. In total, it took me about 2 hours to consider and respond to the CPD questions.
Overall the experience was positive and affirming as I’d learnt much more than I’d realised. Capturing my professional development has also enabled me to embed it better. It also helped me to identify which learning experiences had been most valuable so I can focus my time and effort on these and getting the right mix for the future. Setting CPD objectives for the next 12 months has ensured I have committed to how and when I will apply my learning and develop my expertise further.
There is no doubt that taking part in this CPD approach has benefited me as a HR professional. In addition, it is critical to regularly update and refresh professional knowledge and practice in an increasingly dynamic world.'
