We're able to offer a reduced membership fee to members in specific circumstances so they can continue to access our member benefits and services to support their work, careers and continuing professional development (CPD).

The career bridge register is for eligible members who are on a career break or maternity leave. The reduced membership fee is £72.

Eligibility criteria:

  • you're an Academic Associate, Academic Member, Academic Fellow, Student, Associate or Chartered member of the Institute (Chartered MCIPD, Chartered FCIPD or Chartered CCIPD)
  • you must not be available to work for at least one year and not receiving any form of remuneration or paid salary (apart from maternity pay)

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.

You can stay on the career bridge register for a maximum of five years. If you'd like to join the register or you're already on the register and would like to extend, please call us on +44 (0) 20 8612 6208

If you're currently looking for work and finding it difficult to pay your annual subscription fee, you can apply to join our interim register.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You're a Student, Associate or Chartered member
  • You've been in membership for more than one full year
  • You're not in work, full-time or part-time

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.

You can stay on the interim register for a maximum of two years. If you'd like to join the register or you're already on the interim register and would like to extend, please call us on +44 (0) 20 8612 6208

If you are aged 60 or over you can apply to be placed on our retired register and receive full member services for a reduced subscription fee. This would be £72 for the first 5 years, and £36 thereafter.* 

Eligibility criteria:

  • You've been an Associate or Chartered Member, Chartered Fellow or Companion (Chartered MCIPD, Chartered FCIPD or Chartered CCIPD) for the last five years
  • You're not in paid employment
  • You're aged 60 or over
  • You are of any age and have certified permanent incapacity to work because of ill health.

This benefit is not available to Affiliate members.
